Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use Bitcoin Panic. This site has been built with accessibility in mind and we review it as the site evolves.
Features built into this site
- Semantic, structured HTML: proper headings, landmarks and lists so screen readers can navigate the page logically.
- Keyboard navigation: interactive elements are reachable and usable without a mouse.
- Readable colour contrast: text and background colours are chosen for legibility.
- Light and dark themes: a theme toggle so you can read in whichever is more comfortable.
- Reduced-motion support: animations are minimised for visitors whose system requests reduced motion.
- Descriptive text for images: meaningful images carry alternative text, and decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
- Responsive layout: the site adapts to phones, tablets and desktops, and supports browser zoom.
- Skip to content link: the first thing a keyboard user reaches on every page, so the navigation can be jumped past.
- Visible focus styles: every link and button shows a clear outline when it has keyboard focus.
- It works without JavaScript: the live Bitcoin price and the panic meter are rendered by the server, so the whole site reads normally with scripting turned off. JavaScript only refreshes the price in the background.
- The panic meter dial is described in text: the gauge is an image with an accessible name, and its reading is repeated in words and figures next to it.
- Numbers set in a monospaced face with tabular figures, so prices and percentages stay aligned and legible as they update.
- No autoplaying media and no content that flashes.
This site has no forms, no logins and no pop-ups, which removes several of the usual accessibility problems before they start.
Known limitations
We’re honest about the gaps rather than claiming a clean sheet:
- The site hasn’t yet been through a formal WCAG 2.2 audit or testing with assistive technology users.
- Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. If that request fails, the page falls back to system fonts, which changes the look but not the reading.
- Pages we link to on exchange and broker websites are outside our control, and we can’t make any promises about their accessibility.
